Mercy Hospice – Home Program
Hospice care is provided in the patient's home, with primary care being provided by the family. The patient must have a life expectancy of less than six months from any terminal illness for admission into the Hospice Program. Our service area is a 50-mile radius of Mercy Medical Center St. Mary's and includes the following counties: Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Grainger, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Hamblen, Sevier and Union.

Our goals for care include:

  • To show respect for human life by enhancing its quality when quantity is limited.
  • To alleviate and manage symptoms, to maintain comfort.
  • To support the patient and family with coordinated efforts of medical care, along with emotional, spiritual, and financial assistance.
  • To provide an appropriate alternative to an institutional setting as long as it is desired and possible.

Residential Hospice
Mercy’s Residential Facility is the only facility of its type in the Knoxville area, and it’s only one of three in Tennessee. This facility is designed to meet the needs of patients who have chosen palliative care and prefer to spend their last months in a home-like environment. Keeping families together in a setting of comfort and peace is an important goal of the program.

The 18-bed facility has approximately 14,000 square feet. All rooms are private and been designed to reflect a feeling of home. The chapel provides a place for spiritual reflection for all faiths. Family rooms, screened in porches and a community room provide areas for families, special events and support groups.

Mercy Hospice remains committed to the family for a year after the family member's death.
