Mercy Health Partners News

Welcome to the New and Improved Mercy.com!

--Dec. 9, 2008

Mercy Health Partners launched a new and improved Web site today that permits online registration for many hospital services, provides a wealth of health information and posts the latest Peyton Manning TV commercials.

“The new Web site, www.mercy.com, is another milestone in our continuing efforts at merging St. Mary’s and Baptist, a process that began just about a year ago,” said Jerry Askew, Mercy senior vice president for external affairs.  “The new Web site continues the award-wining tradition of providing the latest in online services for our patients and their families.”

“Mercy’s four centers of excellence in healthcare - cancer care, heart care, women’s care and orthopedic care - are featured on the new Web site.  For example, a woman can take a test to learn more about her risk for breast cancer and a person can learn more about their risk for heart disease through the HeartAware section on the site.  Through many of the functions on the new Web site, Mercy is encouraging people to learn more about their potential health problems and to better manage any chronic diseases they may have.”

Mercy Marketing Specialist Letitia Basner, who led the effort to consolidate the St. Mary’s and Baptist Web sites into the new mercy.com, said the site features:

·        Calendar events for support groups, registration for prenatal classes CPR classes, Lunch and Learns and other health system programs

·        Pre-registration for hospital services

·        Online bill pay

·        Physician directory

·        Job posting and online job applications

·        Health and medical information

“The Internet is playing an increasingly important role in helping people to make informed decisions regarding healthcare services,” Basner said.  “The Mercy Web site is designed to provide the people of Knoxville and East Tennessee with the latest in information on medical services available at Mercy facilities and with the most current healthcare information available.

“Also, I think that the Careers section will be one of the most popular areas on the new Web site.  The Careers section now posts job listings for all of the Mercy healthcare facilities across East Tennessee, making it easier to scan for available positions.  That is a good example of the increased functionality of the new Web site,” Basner said.

Mercy Health Partners was formed by the merger of St. Mary’s Health System and Baptist Health System of East Tennessee in January, 2008.  Mercy has nine hospitals and many associated healthcare facilities across East Tennessee.  More than 1,500 of the areas top physicians join with 6,000 Mercy associates in offering the most advanced medical services available today provided through compassionate care that focuses on healing the mind, body and soul.
