New Parking Lot Shuttle Service Available on St. Mary's North Campus
--May 22, 2009
Neither rain nor sleet nor snow stops Al Comley from making his rounds in the new parking lot shuttle at the St. Mary’s North campus. Comley, a St. Mary’s volunteer from Corryton, drives the new six-passenger parking lot shuttle that is providing service between the parking lots and the entrances to the St. Mary’s Cancer, Imaging and Women’s Center, the Physicians Office Buildings and St. Mary’s Medical Center North on the Emory Road campus. “We have had a great response to the new shuttle service,” Comley said. “It has been well received, especially by some of the elderly patients who have difficulty walking and getting to the entrance.” St. Mary’s volunteers take turns driving the shuttle service, which is provided on most regular business days. Mary Anne Keck, St. Mary’s Director of Volunteer Services, said the new parking shuttle cost $5,900 and was purchased by the St. Mary’s Volunteer Auxiliary through its various fundraising activities including Gift Shop sales. “We also picked out an electric cart that will help in Mercy’s Champion Green Program to be more environmentally friendly,” Keck said. St. Mary’s Medical Center North is a St. Mary’s Medical Center facility. The St. Mary’s North campus facilities are part of Mercy Health Partners.
