Christopher Nolte, M.D. Joins Mercy Sleep Centers
--August 11, 2009
Christopher Nolte, M.D. has joined Mercy Sleep Centers. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Dr. Nolte completed his internship and residency at the Mayo Clinic. Fellowship trained in sleep medicine, Dr. Nolte is also board certified in neurology.
Dr. Nolte has a particular interest in pediatric sleep issues. With kids soon heading back to the classroom, parents should be on the lookout for sleep problems. “A lack of sleep can affect a child’s ability to learn,” says Dr. Nolte. “If your child is falling asleep in school, if their grades are suffering or they’re inattentive or hyperactive, it’s a key time to find out the cause of these issues.”
According to Dr. Nolte, like adults, most kids just don’t get enough sleep. The reasons are things that confront them every day like technology and the rigors of school schedules.
“Sleepiness during the day can be a result of poor quality sleep during the night and can be an indication of an undiagnosed sleep disorder” says Dr. Nolte. “There are treatments for these very common sleep disorders.”
Dr. Nolte will present a special seminar, “Sleepless in Knoxville,” on Thursday, August 27 at 11:30 a.m. at The Foundry located at the World’s Fair Park. The lunch program will focus on the newest techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Space is limited—call (865) 632-5200 by August 25 to register, or visit mercy.com and click on Classes and Events to register online. The lunch and seminar are free of charge.
