Mercy Cancer Center's Diet and Cancer Series to Focus on Preventing Lung Cancer

--Nov. 2, 2009

The November program in the Diet and Cancer Series will help people learn to pump up their lungs with good nutrition during the free program that will be held from noon – 1 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2009, in the Sister Elizabeth Assembly Center on the St. Mary’s North campus.

The St. Mary’s North campus is located just east of I-75 at the Emory Road exit.

Featured speaker at this fourth edition of the Diet and Cancer Series is Patrick Wortman, MS, RD, LDN, who is with the Center for Integrative Medicine in Chattanooga.

Wortman says that by far the most important thing a person can do to prevent lung cancer is to never smoke. However, Wortman will detail in the program the importance of a healthy diet to reduce the risk of lung and other forms of cancer.

A light, healthy lunch will be provided.  Space is limited, so please call Ask Mercy at 865-632-5200 or toll free at 877-368-7362 by November 11 to register.  Online registration is available at www.mercy.com and following the links for Classes and Events.
