Mercy Health - Cincinnati announces that it has appointed Stephen Feagins, MD as its Chief Clinical Officer (CCO). Dr. Feagins sits on the leadership team of Mercy Health – Cincinnati President Dave Fikse and reports to Doug Apple, MD, Group Chief Clinical Officer for Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH). BSMH is the parent organization of Mercy Health – Cincinnati.
Dr. Feagins assumed the CCO role in October. He had been serving as the interim CCO since Bon Secours Mercy Health named Dr. Erin Fries the Chief Medical Officer of Population Health.
“Steve has tirelessly helped guide and shape our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, not just within Mercy Health – Cincinnati but also within our ministry and in Hamilton County,” said Fikse. “He is a welcome addition to our team.”
In addition to his work on Mercy Health – Cincinnati’s pandemic response, as CCO, Dr. Feagins is responsible for providing physician executive leadership for the Cincinnati region’s clinical enterprises, including hospital medical staff and Mercy Health Physicians. He serves also as the Medical Director of Hamilton County Public Health.
Dr. Feagins joined Mercy Health in 2007 as the Vice President of Medical Affairs for Mercy Health – Springfield. Previously, he was an internal medicine doctor in private practice and was a Major in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Feagins received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Memphis in Tennessee, where he also earned his Medical degree.
