An angel donor has made a $1.195 million gift to Mercy Health – Clermont Hospital, with the funds earmarked to enhance how patients and their families experience care at the hospital.
This is the largest gift that Clermont Hospital has received in its 47-year history. This gift comes as a result of the donor’s strong relationship with internal medicine provider Dr. Param Hariharan and desire to invest in the high-quality care being delivered in Clermont County.
“It’s fitting that Clermont Hospital, which was founded in 1973 thanks to a $250,000 gift left in an estate from successful real estate developer and Bethel, Ohio native Edmund Glenn Burke, is the beneficiary of this very generous gift,” said Clermont Hospital President Shane Knisley. “Keeping access to quality health care local, now and in the future, is important to the donor. This gift will allow us to enhance the healing environment in which we provide compassionate care. Additionally, this gift supports our welcoming environment for the people who call Clermont County and its surrounding communities home.”

The donor’s gift is funding:
- Replacement of furniture in 52 patient rooms, including new sofas, recliners, laptop tables, bedside cabinets and overbed tables
- Purchase of 62 Hercules Patient Repositioners - these automated repositioning devices installed on hospital beds lessen the need for clinicians to manually readjust patients' posture, reducing workplace injuries and increasing patient satisfaction
Additionally, together with a match from Mercy Health, the donation will fund the renovation of the Wound Care Center, who has cared for the Angel donor’s family for many years. This angel donor joins many other generous donors to close the remaining gap to build the Linda Thacker Healing Garden, an outdoor healing area for the inpatient behavioral health unit.
Work on these projects is expected to begin before the end of the year.
