Mercy Health Foundation - Lourdes has added three new members to its board. Those new to the Mercy Health Foundation - Lourdes board are Shonda Hollowell-Burrus, Kevin Kauffeld and Blake Summarell.

  • Shonda Hollowell-Burrus: Hollowell-Burrus is the dean of students at Paducah Tilghman High School, returning to Paducah after working at Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta, Calif. A 1993 graduate of Paducah Tilghman, Hollowell-Burrus received both her master’s degree in education and her bachelor’s degree in human development from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif. She also earned an associate’s degree in child development from MiraCosta College in Oceanside, Calif. 

    Hollowell-Burrus has been honored as California Educator of the Year, Region 10 Educator of the Year, and Vista Murrieta High School Bronco of the Year. While in California, Hollowell-Burns received the NAACP Service Award, the Superintendent’s Circle of Excellence Award, and the Black Chamber of Commerce Movers and Shakers Award.
  • Kevin Kauffeld: Kauffeld serves as president of Independence Bank. Kauffeld most recently served as the chancellor and director of stewardship with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Owensboro, which serves 78 parishes and numerous schools and institutions in western Kentucky. 

    A native of Owensboro, Kauffeld earned his master’s degree in management and his bachelor’s degree in business from Brescia University in Owensboro. Kauffeld is a member of Council #6101 Knights of Columbus and a member of the Paducah Chamber of Commerce. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, hunting and boating with his family on Lake Barkley. Kauffeld and his wife Ann and have three children and four grandchildren.
  • Blake Summarell: Summarell is a certified financial planner and limited partner with Edward Jones in Paducah. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Kentucky.

    He began his career with Edward Jones at the financial firm’s corporate offices in St. Louis. He managed his own practice in Louisville for seven years prior to returning to Paducah two years ago. Summarell is a graduate of St. Mary High School. Summarell serves on the Paducah Citizens Advisory Board which operates as part of the Department of Energy's Environmental Management Site Specific Advisory Board. The board was developed to involve stakeholders more directly in cleanup decisions. Summarell also serve on the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce’s membership and Marketing committee. Summarell’s wife Taylor is a nurse practitioner at Mercy Health - Midtown Pediatrics. The couple has one daughter, Mae, and is expecting their second child in December.

Mercy Health Foundation – Lourdes is the philanthropic arm of Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital.
