Mercy Health – Springfield and United Senior Services Launch Wellness Passport Program

Mercy Health has partnered with United Senior Services (USS) to present the Wellness Passport, a year-long education and action program.

Mercy Health and USS have designed the Wellness Passport program to positively impact and challenge seniors socially, mentally and physically by offering health and well-being education and events and activities that promote a healthy lifestyle. The program is available at USS’ Springfield location at 125 West Main Street, Springfield, OH 45502 and includes exercise classes, cognitive stimulation classes, health screenings and nutritional education, as well as many opportunities for social interaction.

“We want to get USS members involved in as many of our wellness initiatives as possible. We will be focusing on all aspects of a healthy lifestyle - physical, mental and nutritional - with the end goal being an improvement in quality of life,” stated Maureen Fagans, CEO of United Senior Services.

“Mercy Health is excited to join forces with United Senior Services to expand on USS’ already successful programming while offering more fun and exciting ways to improve the overall health and well-being of the member population,” said Jason Cordial, Mercy Health Wellness Coordinator.

USS members who sign up for the Wellness Passport program will receive cards listing Wellness Passport events, including exercise classes, nutritional activities, educational programs, social activities and health screenings. Each time members participate in Wellness Passport events, they receive Passport credits. Members can also earn credits for taking part in community events, such as the Relay for Life and the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. Members receive prizes as they achieve Passport credit milestones. The first benchmark prize is a free 2018 USS membership.

A grant from the Community Health Foundation supports the Wellness Passport program. For additional information on the Wellness Passport program and how to participate, please ask at the USS welcome desk or look for Wellness Passport board near the front entrance.
