Newsweek, a national magazine publisher, recently ranked the Nation’s best Nursing Homes for 2020 with Mercy Health  Assumption Village earning the distinction.

The recognition was published as a part of the national magazine’s “Best Hospital” issue 2020-21. U.S. News evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide and recognized award winners in 20 states. The total state lists contained 406 unique nursing homes, 14 of them from Ohio.

Facilities were ranked using several criteria, but rankings from medical experts as well as nursing home performance based on Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) data in three domains; health inspections, staffing, and quality measures were driving factors.

“Our residents have always been at the core of what we do,” said Melessa Scattino, Executive Director of Mercy Health – Long Term Care. “Providing an environment that emphasizes both healing and dignity is what allows us to extend our mission and provide expert-level, compassionate care.” She added.

The Assumption Village is located on Market Street in North Lima, just up the street from St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital and features 150 beds with service spanning skilled rehabilitation, long term care and a special care, dementia unit.

“We are proud of this designation as it’s a testament to the clinicians and staff working not only at that facility, but throughout the Youngstown ministry,” said Dr. John Luellen, Market President of Mercy Health Youngstown.
