Mercy Health - Anderson Hospital Guild Marks 70th Anniversary with $100,000 Donation to Benefit Patients

(CINCINNATI; July 14, 2014) – Mercy Health, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that the Guild of Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital has marked its 70th anniversary by donating $100,000 for the purchase of equipment that will benefit patients directly.

Guild President Jan Abbott presented the generous donation to Jeff Graham, East Market Leader and President, during a recent luncheon.

“This gift was made possible thanks to the Anderson Township community’s generous support of Guild programs, including the hospital gift shop,” said Abbott.

“I can’t thank the Anderson Hospital Guild enough for its continued, generous support of the work we do,” said Graham. “This donation will go toward equipment that will help our friends and neighbors be well, helping Mercy Health fulfil its mission to improve the health of the communities we serve.”

Items purchased by the 2014 Guild contribution include the following:
• Remote electrocardiogram services that enable heart attack victims to start treatment while still in the ambulance
• A bladder scanner that helps prevent unnecessary catheterization      
• Two advanced ventilators that follow patients’ breathing patterns
• A video laryngoscope specifically for children and those with smaller airways for the Emergency Department   
• A mobile intensive care unit for newborns

The Guild of Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital has been in existence for 70 years. Since its inception, the Guild has focused its efforts on fundraising activities, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the purchase of equipment. Over the past 30 years, the Guild has raised over $3 million for targeted capital improvement projects at Anderson Hospital.

Today, over 120 volunteers are active members of Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital Guild. They continue to raise funds to extend the services of the hospital and to support staff through a variety of activities, including operating the Gift Shop, hosting the very popular jewelry, book and candy sales and hosting the annual Mercyfest and Spring luncheon.
