The Jewish Hospital - Mercy Health presents the 18th Barbara Wells Marshall Conference for Area Nurses:

(CINCINNATI; May 15, 2014) - Mercy Health, which provides advanced, quality care with compassion in your neighborhood through its care network, announces the topic for this year’s Barbara Wells Marshall Conference presented by The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health: “Assessing Head to Toe: How to Interpret What You See.” 

The conference runs from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 at the Mayerson Jewish Community Center, located at 8485 Ridge Road in Cincinnati, ZIP 45236.

The advanced practice nurses who care for patients at The Jewish Hospital invite area nurses to attend this educational conference where together, they will:

• discuss the incidence of brain tumors and different neoplasms and their significance as it relates to the treatment options of the Gamma Knife
• identify risk factors, presenting symptoms, diagnostic criteria, treatment and common complications of patients with acute leukemia
• discuss the implications of liver disease and treatment options
• discuss various etiologies of urinary tract infections
• describe the nursing care of the acute heart failure patient, including signs and symptoms, medications and testing
• discuss weight bias, complications of obesity and surgical weight loss options
• identify common postoperative complications and discuss nursing management of those complications
• describe the role of Palliative Care in chronic illness
