Mercy Health - West Hospital Celebrates First Year in Operation with Strong Growth in Volume, High Patient Satisfaction Ratings and Special Event Open to the Public

(CINCINNATI; November 5, 2014) – Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, compassionate, quality care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that Mercy Health – West Hospital is celebrating its first year in operation with a series of special events for the West Side community, physicians, nurses and staff.

“We have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome we’ve received from the West Side,” said Mike Stephens, Mercy Health - West Market President and CEO. “In just one year, West Hospital has become the community’s go-to choice for advanced, high quality care delivered with compassion.”

The care team at West Hospital has already treated tens of thousands of patients. Deliveries at the Family Birthing Center are growing significantly each quarter, with the hospital posting a 60% increase in deliveries in its last three months of operation as compared to the first three months. By the same measure, the Emergency Department volume has seen a 22% increase and surgeries have grown by five per cent.

The team has provided all this care and adjusted to the growth in volume while providing a superlative patient experience. Patient satisfaction numbers are strong and continue to improve to be among the best in the entire Mercy Health system. West Hospital earned full certification from the Joint Commission just three months after it opened and implemented electronic medical records.

The hospital has hosted national speakers on topics of strong regional interest in its auditorium, welcomed musicians of all ages in its lobby, partnered with local schools to design extra parking areas and served as the launch site for the popular Crosstown Showdown high school football showcase.

“We want to say thank you to our community, patients, visitors, physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers by hosting a number of events to mark their support on our first anniversary. We invite the community to celebrate with us at a special musical performance,” said Stephens.

On Monday, November 10 at 3:30 p.m. on the Terrace level, a duo from the Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra will play a number of selections for cello and piano. This event is free and open to the public.

West Hospital has extended an invitation to its First Babies Club members – the first 50 babies born at West Hospital – to attend a first birthday party on Saturday, November 22nd from noon-2 p.m.
