Our community needs 350 blood donors and 40 platelet donors to come forward each day to help save lives. Blood donation is one of the few ways in which people can give of themselves to make a difference in someone's life. Most people can donate blood, based on the eligibility criteria, which includes the following:
• Be at least 17 years old. (16-year-olds may donate with parental consent)
• Weigh at least 110 lbs. (body weight)
• Generally feel well and healthy
• Have no fever, sore throat or flu-like symptoms
• Have no active cold symptoms
• Have not had major surgery recently (released from doctor’s care)
