The Auxiliary of Mercy Health - West Hospital Awards College Scholarships to Six Outstanding Local Students

(CINCINNATI; June 4, 2015) – Mercy Health, which provides advanced, quality care with compassion in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that the West Hospital Auxiliary has awarded college scholarships to six local students with impressive school careers and even more exciting future plans.

Each year, the Auxiliary’s Scholarship Committee solicits scholarship applications from 26 schools in West Hospital’s service area for four scholarships:
• One employee dependent scholarship
• One volunteer scholarship
• Two community scholarships

The caliber of this year’s applicants was so high, that the Auxiliary agreed to offer two extra Community Scholarships to recognize more top students. The winners are:
• Caroline Klopp, Seton High School, won the $2,500 Employee Dependent Scholarship and will study pre-med at Ohio State University in Columbus.
• Abigail Evans, McAuley High School, won the $2,500 Volunteer Scholarship and will study nursing at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati.
• Andrew Bueno, St. Xavier High School, won the $2,500 Community Scholarship and will study pre-med at Stanford University in California.
• Sarah Doren, Mother of Mercy High School, won the $2,500 Community Scholarship and will study physical therapy at the University of Cincinnati.
• Sara Forbeck, Harrison High School, won the $1,000 Community Scholarship and will study anesthesiology at University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky.
• Kevin Siemer, Elder High School, won the $1,000 Community Scholarship and will study physical therapy at Miami University, University of Cincinnati or Mount St. Joseph University.

The Auxiliary of Mercy Health – West Hospital raises funds for charitable care and capital purchases that help the hospital provide top quality care to the patients it serves. The Auxiliary also awards annual scholarships to talented area students embarking on healthcare careers.
