Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Physician Specializing in Adult Reconstruction Joins Mercy Health Physicians

CINCINNATI; September 25, 2015) – Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that orthopaedic and sports medicine specialist James D. Abbott, MD has joined Mercy Health Physicians.

Dr. Abbott performs total hip and knee replacements and specializes in the reconstruction of the adult anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The ACL is a ligament in the human knee that is crucial the stabilizing the knee as we turn and plant our feet.

“Many athletes and sports enthusiasts – up to 100,000 annually in the U.S. alone – will tear their ACL. Thanks to reconstructive surgery, however, the injury doesn’t spell the end of someone’s professional or casual participation in sports,” said. Board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Abbott completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine and an Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Louisville. He earned his medical degree from Medical College of Ohio.
