Clermont Chamber of Commerce Bestows Jackson Township Award on

(CINCINNATI; April 29, 2016) – Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality care with compassion in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that the Clermont Chamber of Commerce named Clermont Hospital volunteer Flo Smith the winner of the Jackson Township Award at its Salute to Leaders event.

The Chamber recognized Smith, who began volunteering at Clermont Hospital in 2001, for the significant impact she has had on the staff, patients and their families with her warm and outgoing personality while working in the gift shop and the surgery waiting room.

“Flo Smith is an outstanding volunteer. She gives of herself selflessly in our gift shop and as a Clermont Hospital Guild Board member,” said Tracy Taylor, Volunteer Services Director, Clermont Hospital. “Flo is always willing to do whatever needs to be done and has a wonderful smile for all staff, patients and families. We are so proud of the award that she had received and she is most deserving of this honor.”

“Mercy Health’s many volunteers provide a myriad of invaluable services that help our patients, their families and our doctors, nurses and staff,” said Jeff Graham, Mercy Health – East Market President and CEO. “I am grateful for Flo’s many years of service and am delighted that the Clermont Chamber of Commerce recognized her for this honor. She’s very deserving of it.”

Smith is an active member of the Clermont Hospital Guild Board, which raises money for hospital equipment and patient needs, and has volunteered 8,672 hours to date. In 2010, Mercy Health honored Smith with the Outstanding Caregiver Award and in 2015, Flo earned the Lifetime Presidential Achievement Award from the White House, receiving an honorary pin and letter from the President in recognition of her contribution of more than 4,000 hours of service.

Salute to Leaders, now in its 23rd year, recognizes individuals and organizations that have made a positive contribution to Clermont County and is present by the Clermont County Chamber and the Clermont County Chamber Foundation. More than 550 people attended the Salute to Leaders event, which is held annually in March and took place in Loveland in late March.
