Mercy Health HealthPlexes Invite You to Enjoy a Free Swimming Lesson and Be Part of the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 24

(CINCINNATI; June 15, 2016) – Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality care with compassion in your neighborhood through its care network, invites the community to enjoy a free swimming lesson and participate in the seventh annual World's Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL).

WLSL is a global event taking place in 500 locations in more 20 countries on Friday, June 24, to emphasize that swimming lessons save lives.

Cincinnati takes part in the WLSL at 1 p.m. on June 24 and swimmers of all ages can come for a free swimming lesson at the Mercy Health - Anderson, Fairfield and Queen City HealthPlexes, which are serving as official host location facilities for the WLSL 2016 event:

Since its inception, more than 155,000 children and adults have participated in WLSL lessons. The 2015 WLSL event included 38,170 participants from 22 countries.

Tragically, drowning remains the leading cause of unintended, injury related death for children ages 1-4, and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under 14. Research shows participation in formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children aged 1 to 4, yet many kids do not receive formal swimming or water safety training.
