Mercy Health - Anderson Hospital Needs Volunteers

Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that is seeking volunteers at Anderson Hospital, which is located at 7500 State Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45255.

"Make a difference in the lives of others, meet new friends, share in the Mercy Health mission, contribute to your community and enhance the lives of others while learning more about yourself," says Diane Stone, Director of Volunteer Services at the hospital. "Volunteers will work alongside their dedicated friends and neighbors, using their skills and talents to make a meaningful contribution to our community, our hospital and its staff."

Volunteers can contribute their time in their choice of role, selecting a schedule that fits their lifestyle. Service opportunities available from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., weekdays and weekends. Volunteers receive comprehensive training and are warmly welcomed by the hospital staff and fellow volunteers.

Some of the service areas and volunteer roles available include:
  • Admitting: Assist patients with preregistration paperwork. Interact closely with the Registrars.
  • Day Surgery Aide: Serve as liaison between physician, surgery and family/friends, escort patient to surgery, run errands, answer telephones, make beds, run errands, stock trays
  • Clerical/Receptionist: Work in various departments assisting with filing, answering phone, mail, photocopying, etc.
  • Emergency Room: Assist with transportation of patients to X-ray, day surgery, nursing units, etc., obtain supplies, assist with dismissal of patients, run errands
  • Information Desk: Give directions, answer telephone, deliver flowers and patient mail, some escorting, retrieve patient information on a computer
  • Center for Women’s Health: Greet visitors, prepare charts and gift packs
  • Medical Arts Host/Hostess: Direct patients to doctors’ offices, provide wheelchairs for visitors
  • Menu Service: Assist patients with food selections, notify patients of meal deliveries
  • Messenger Service: Make in-house deliveries, some patient discharge using a wheelchair, pick up and deliver things for all departments of the hospital
  • Pastoral Care: Assist the staff with visitation of patients, clerical duties, telephone duties and distribution of Holy Communion
  • Patient Partner Program: Visit with patients, answer call lights, escort patients, run errands for patients, ask patients if there is anything that will make their stay more comfortable
  • Surgery Waiting Area: Serve as liaison with family/friends of patients being treated in the Surgery, register names of family members waiting, perform host/hostess duties, keep magazines in order
  • Gift Shop: Assist customers with sales, operate the cash register, take phone orders, keep shop neat and clean, and help with inventory.
