Temporary Visitor Restrictions:

Visitors with COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed into the hospital.

A visitor may not stay if they:

  • Feel sick
  • Have symptoms of COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms
  • Tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 within the last three weeks.
  • Have been advised to get a COVID-19 test but have not yet obtained one
  • Are waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test
  • Have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last two weeks other than the patient being visited.
  • Have been asked to be on home quarantine or isolation.

All visitors must enter through the main lobby during regular visiting hours (9 a.m. -6 p.m.) or through the ED entrance after visiting hours.

Inpatients - 1 Visitor per day          

  • Admitted non-COVID patients may have one visitor at any time.
  • The visitor may leave the room or hospital and return.
  • Visitation hours are 9a.m. – 6p.m. 
  • Visitors must be 18 years of age.
  • Visitors must wash their hands, or use hand sanitizer, before and after leaving rooms and hospital buildings.
  • Members of the Clergy are not counted as visitors

Exceptions that allow for visitors:

  • End of life (expected death within 1-3 days) as determined by the team.
  • Clinical Administrator, for extreme/extenuating circumstances, may authorize visitation for patients

For exception requests not listed above – consult with Clinical Administrator for decision

  • Nursing supervisor for extreme/extenuating circumstances may authorize one visitor per day; visit to last one hour.

COVID-19 inpatient visitation guidelines:  

  • A single visitor for inpatient visits may be a relative, partner, friend or any one single person the patient chooses to have at their side during care. For inpatient visits, visitor must be 18 or older.
  • Visitation Hours for COVID -19 positive patients will be for 2 hours and from 4pm-6pm daily.

ED Visitors

  • A single companion may stay with the patient COVID positive or not COVID
  • If a patient is being admitted after regular visiting hours, one (1) companion will be allowed to go to the inpatient department for 60 minutes.  Inpatient guidelines will apply.
  • Visitors must remain in the patient’s room.
  • At all times a mask will be worn by the visitor to cover the nose and mouth.
  • Additional visitors will be asked to wait in their cars. 

Same Day Surgery/IR          

  • A single companion may wait in the waiting room if space allows for social distancing. Otherwise, they will be asked to wait in their vehicle.
  • A single companion will be allowed in with the patient for discharge instructions if needed or will be completed over the phone.
  • If a patient is being admitted, 1 companion will be allowed to go upstairs for 60 minutes. Inpatient guidelines then apply.

Imaging Services     

If assistance is needed, one caregiver may accompany the patient to the department and then wait in the waiting room if space allows for social distancing.  Otherwise visitors will be asked to wait in their vehicle.
 
Outpatient Diagnostic Testing/Other Department appointments          

One visitor or caregiver allowed in the facilities.  All other visitors will be asked to wait in their cars.

Behavioral Health

  • Visitation will be from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. for both senior and adult
  • Only one (1) visitor per patient per day.
  • Visitors must be 18 years or older.
  • Once a visitor leaves the unit they may not come back in the same day.

***End of Life - Non COVID-19       

  • A reasonable number of visitors (with preference for immediate family and those living in the same household) may be with their loved one at time of death.
  • Nursing will notify security and Clinical that additional visitors will be allowed due to end of life.

***End of Life - COVID - 19  

  • Visitors may be approved by manager or clinical administrator (Visitor may not be present for terminal extubating.)
  • Note the names of the visitors in the patient’s chart and notify clinical administrator.  
  • Nursing must educate visitors with risk and assistance with proper donning / doffing PPE.

Screening & Mask Guidelines:

In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks are recommended, but no longer required, in our facilities.

However, visitors should not visit patients if they have recently experienced a high-risk exposure to someone with COVID-19, a respiratory illness or other symptoms associated with COVID-19.

At Mercy Health — Clermont Hospital, we understand the value of including family members and friends in the healing process of our patients. For your convenience, we would like to welcome all guests to visit us at any time the patient wishes to take advantage of our open visitation.

 

Visitors are encouraged to stop at the Information Desk located in the Main Lobby Entrance for patient room and telephone number information. Please understand that to protect the confidentiality of our patients, nurses and other hospital caregivers may be limited in the information they can provide.

Flowers, Packages, and Mail

We welcome flowers and packages for our patients from their loved ones. Please have flowers and other packages sent to the following hospital address:

All mail, packages and flowers addressed to patients will be delivered to their room. Mail received after a discharge will be forwarded to the patient’s home. Florists will be directed to deliver flowers received after discharge to the patient’s home.

Smoking Policy 

The hospital is a tobacco-free facility. Smoking and tobacco products are prohibited on the hospital campus and cannot be used anywhere on our property, including the parking areas.
