Surgery: You Have a Choice

Full Service Care
Springfield Regional Medical Center and Mercy Memorial Hospital are full-service hospitals. What does that mean for your surgical experience? It’s an extra layer of safety should you experience an adverse event during or after surgery—a concern for patients who have chronic conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, lung disease or kidney disease, that may become unstable during surgery and need immediate attention.

At a full-service hospital, physicians are avaliable around the clock, with emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, pediatricians and hospitalists on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Should your surgery require extra assistance, we have many specialists readily available: cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynecology, neonatology, nephrology, oncology, pulmonology and radiology.

Full-service also means other resources are available to you 24 hours a day: pharmacists, a full laboratory, onsite radiology, a blood bank, nuclear medicine, intensive care, dialysis capability, and EKG, echocardiogram capability and on-call chaplains. These are just a few of the many services you might need following surgery.

If you or a loved one has a chronic condition, having immediate backup care is essential. Some of these conditions may be previously undetected, but can flare up during the stress of surgery. At Springfield Regional, we provide the safety net for patients who might be at risk of complications.
