Mercy Health launches online wellness video series

Cincinnati, OH (Dec. 9, 2014) – Mercy Health (formerly Catholic Health Partners) – a Catholic healthcare ministry serving Ohio and Kentucky – today debuted Mercy Health: Helping You Be Well, a YouTube video series spotlighting key health issues and tips for healthy living. The videos feature Mercy Health physician experts who are committed to making lives better – mind, body and spirit.

In the first video, Dr. Donna Markham, president of the Behavioral Health Institute at Mercy Health, and Dr. Laurie Ballew, medical director of Lourdes Behavioral Health Institute in Paducah, Ky., offer tips to restore more joy during this time of holiday parties, shopping, and family get-togethers.

“We want everything to be done perfectly,” Dr. Ballew says in the video. “We expect people to behave in a certain manner, and if these expectations aren’t met, we are disappointed and become upset.”
Dr. Markham offers four tips to help restore peace to the festivities.

“The ability to step back and reframe, refocus, redirect and relax can help ease stress and bring more enjoyment to the holiday season,” Dr. Markham says. “When stress or anxieties are at their peak, it can be hard to stay calm, but taking a moment to breathe deeply can make all the difference.”
