Mercy Health Names Staci Lucius President of Mercy Health Physicians

Mercy Health, a Catholic health ministry serving Ohio and Kentucky, announces that it has named Staci Lucius as president of Mercy Health Physicians. Lucius is working directly with Mercy Health’s regional CEOs to identify and implement best practice excellence across the system.

She assumed the role in August from Anton Decker, M.B.B.Ch, Mercy Health Chief Clinical Officer, who is responsible for developing and implementing strategic clinical initiatives that advance Mercy Health’s patient care and overall operational performance. Lucius reports to Decker and Brian Smith, Mercy Health Chief Operating Officer.

“Staci comes to Mercy Health with nearly 20 years of progressive healthcare operations experience, specifically focused on delivering growth and transformation strategies across healthcare systems. She has key expertise in partnering and collaborating with physicians, as well as building and leading high-performing teams to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare marketplace,” said Decker.

“Staci’s experience will be of tremendous value to Mercy Health as we focus on the development of innovative practices, processes and partnerships to advance our footprint,” said Smith. “We believe that her focus on and dedication to the success of Mercy Health Physicians will help to ensure that physicians and patients are represented like never before across Mercy Health.”

Most recently, Lucius served as chief operating officer of the OhioHealth Physician Group, where she led operations for the company’s physician network of more than 1,100 providers across 200 locations. Prior to OhioHealth, Lucius served as assistant vice president of operations for the Health Management Associates’ (HMA) Eastern Group, as well as interim president of HMA’s Health Management Physician Network.

Lucius has a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science and Psychology from Arkansas Tech University and a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Oklahoma State University. Lucius, her husband J.R. and their dog Buddy live in West Chester, Ohio.
