Pediatrician to be recognized for 36 years of service to community

(LIMA; April 5, 2017) In 1981, Dr. Mark Winerman began his career with Pediatrics of Lima in Lima, Ohio. Thirty-six years later, he will hang up his stethoscope and lab coat as he recently announced his retirement. Bob Baxter, CEO of St. Rita’s Health Partners, will present an award to Dr. Winerman on Thursday, April 6 at 7:30 a.m. in front of colleagues to recognize him for his years of service to the community. This will take place at St. Rita’s 2017 Cardiac Symposium taking place at Veterans Memorial Civic & Convention Center located at 7 Town Square, Lima, Ohio 45801.

Dr. Winerman’s career in Lima began in 1981 when Dr. Jack Stechschulte and Dr. Doug Daniels asked him to join Pediatrics of Lima. He enjoyed working with these two individuals. During his last 36 years of service he has worked with many individuals who also made an impact on him.

In a recent Facebook post, Dr. Winerman expressed his gratitude for those he had the pleasure of working with throughout his career. This included former coworkers, current coworkers, St. Rita’s Health Partners professionals and those in the Lima community.

Aside from being a pediatrician, Dr. Winerman also wore several hats during his professional career. He wasn’t just a pediatrician at Pediatrics of Lima. He also worked with school nurses at Lima City schools, served as the Continuing Medical Education Director for Lima Area Medical Education Development, Inc. (now Mercy St. Rita’s Health Partners Center for Continuing Medical Education) and was the chair of credentials at St. Rita’s Medical Center for 20 years.

While his professional experience is certainly notable, the number of patients he cared for and his community service is even more inspiring. His years of patient and community centered care includes three years of pediatric residency, 36 years as a pediatrician for Pediatrics of Lima, ER and Urgent Care shifts, along with helping Lima City School Health Clinics, voluntary sports participation physicals and more. When these points of care are combined Dr. Winerman has treated nearly 100,000 patients.

Dr. Winerman will be a name that the community remembers. St. Rita’s Health Partners, along with the team at Pediatrics of Lima, look forward to recognizing him for his years of service.
