• The best time to schedule your mammogram is the week following your menstrual cycle.
  • Be sure to let your X-ray technologist know whether there is any chance you are pregnant.
  • Do not wear deodorant, talcum powder or lotion under your arms because these may look like calcium deposits on the mammogram.
  • Tell your technologist about any breast symptoms or problems you have been having.
  • If possible, bring prior mammograms with you so that the radiologist can see them during analysis of the exam.
  • Ask when your results will be available. Do not assume that everything is fine if you don’t hear anything from your doctor or from the mammography facility.
