Mercy Foundation Supports Art Therapy Programs at Lourdes

Paducah, KY (January 22, 2018) – Lourdes Foundation was recently awarded a Mercy Health Community Outreach Grant.  The funds will be used for expanded art therapy programs at Mercy Health – Behavioral Health at Lourdes Hospital and Camp Robin.

Camp Robin is a grief camp for children and teenagers who have lost a loved one. This free day camp provides children, teens, and their parents with education and support in a setting where they may gain skills, make connections and discover inner strength as they cope with their grief.

“Lourdes Hospice and Camp Robin's volunteers are excited to be chosen for such a generous grant,” says Shannah Poindexter, Lourdes Homecare & Hospice Community Relationship Manager. “These funds will enable us to continue to provide quality, therapeutic art activities to the children and teens who attend Camp Robin and honor their loved ones memories with their take home memory project.”

“Recreational and art therapy are key components in the recovery and overall well-being of our patients,” says John Strachan, Director of Operations at Mercy Health –Behavioral Health at Lourdes Hospital. “We are honored to receive this money that will allow us to enhance our patients’ therapeutic experience through this wonderful grant.”

“Lourdes Foundation is proud to support Camp Robin and its work with children and young people in the community.  Programs, such as Camp Robin and our behavioral health art therapy programs, help strengthen the Lourdes mission to support our community in mind, body, and spirit,” adds Jessica Toren, Foundation President.
