Sleeve Gastrectomy

  • Sleeve Gastrectomy
  • In this procedure, a thin vertical sleeve of stomach is created using a stapling device. The rest of the stomach is removed. The remaining 2/3 of the stomach is removed. This limits the amount of food that can be eaten at one time.
  • Most popular surgical weight loss procedure in the nation.
  • Surgery lasts one hour and requires a hospital stay of one day.
  • Dietitians will provide on-going education on dietary regimen before and after surgery.
  • Typically results in a significant amount of weight loss.
  • Dramatic impact on weight-related health problems.
  • Excellent long-term results.
  • Allows for normal digestion/absorption.

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass

  • Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
  • Gastric bypass surgery performed laproscopically reduces the capacity of the stomach and bypasses a portion of the small intestine.
  • The laparoscopic procedure has the benefit of a quicker recovery time and less pain than traditional open surgery.
  • Whether your gastric bypass is open or laparoscopic, it will be performed under general anesthesia.
  • The gastric bypass surgery is a popular bariatric procedure that has excellent long-term results and very low complication rates.
  • Surgery lasts 1.5–2 hours and requires a hospital stay of two days.
  • Dietitians will provide on-going education on dietary regimen before and after surgery.
  • Typically results in the largest amount of weight loss.
  • Dramatic impact on weight-related health problems.
  • Excellent long-term results.

Adjustable Gastric Banding

  • Adjustable Gastric Banding
  • In this procedure, a gastric band wraps around the upper part of the stomach, creating a small upper pouch that holds about ½ cup of food, limiting the amount of food eaten at one time.
  • More gradual weight loss.
  • The band is reversible.
  • No staples.
  • Requires multiple adjustments in an outpatient setting.
  • Surgery lasts 30–60 minutes and typically has a one-day or less hospital stay.
  • Typically results in a significant amount of weight loss.
  • Has a positive impact on weight-related health problems.

Robotic Bariatric Surgery

The da Vinci Surgical System gives our bariatric surgeons a magnified view of the anatomy surrounding the stomach and enables them to have more precision, dexterity and control. Compared to conventional laparoscopic procedures, robotic weight loss surgery may offer patients numerous potential benefits, including:

  • Fewer complications
  • Less trauma to the body
  • Less pain and scarring
  • Lower infection rates
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Much lower rate of gastrointestinal leaks
  • Lower risk of needing follow-up surgery
