Springfield Regional Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers. The Gold Seal of Approval® and the Heart-Check mark represent symbols of quality from their respective organizations. 

Springfield Regional Medical Center and Urbana Hospital participate in the Telestroke program with Ohio State University, which connects our physicians Center with stroke experts at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. This state-of-the-art program uses advanced video equipment in your hospital’s emergency room to contact the stroke experts at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center. Together, your healthcare team and Ohio State’s stroke experts work to give you and your family the best stroke treatment available.  

In a stroke situation, time is essential. Think FAST to recognize a stroke:
Face – Facial weakness or drooping
Arm – Arm numbness and weakness
Speech – Slurred Speech and difficulty speaking or understanding
Time – Time is critical!

Springfield Regional Medical Center boasts a door-to-balloon time (the time it takes for a hospital to treat a heart attack patient after he or she arrives at the hospital) of under 60 minutes, well below the national average of 90 minutes. We are an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. What does this mean? In a heart attack situation, every minute counts for saving heart muscle.  

Springfield Regional also excels in performance of carotid endarterectomies, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft and was rated 10 out of 12 stars (the national average is eight) by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Duke Clinical Research Institute, Springfield Regional Medical Center is also a recipient of the Premier Award for Highest Quality and Lowest Cost and the Premier Award for being in the top 1% of Medicare providers for CABG. 

Springfield Regional Medical Center also offers cutting-edge, noninvasive cardiac testing to detect many types of problems affecting the heart and the cardiovascular system, including electrocardiography, electrophysiology studies, holter monitoring and stress tests.
