Maternal Fetal Medicine

Sometimes pregnancy doesn’t go as smoothly as expected. When complications arise, the maternal-fetal medicine specialists at St. Elizabeth’s can help. Women who seek consultation from or care by a maternal-fetal medicine specialist do so because they are considered “at risk” and are considering becoming pregnant or because they are pregnant and “high risk,” “complicated,” or otherwise worried about their pregnancy.

And when it’s time to deliver, these mothers have the comfort of knowing that Akron Children’s Neonatal Special Care Unit at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital is also available and prepared to handle most emergencies. These highly skilled nurses and board-certified neonatologists offer intensive care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
