Mercy Health is proud to announce that Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital was named as a 2022 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
This annual program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance Index. To determine the 2022 list, the Chartis Center used the Hospital Strength Index, which assesses performance in eight areas: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and financial efficiency.
“The tremendous work of our team at Mercy Health – Tiffin continues to elevate Mercy Health as a top provider of quality care in both the Seneca County community and the entire region,” said Bob Baxter, president, Mercy Health – Toledo. “This national recognition highlights that the care being provided by this team is among the very best offered in our nation’s rural communities.”
Over the course of the last 12 years, the INDEX has established itself as the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is trusted by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
“Despite unprecedented adversity rural providers continue to display resiliency and a steadfast commitment to their communities,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “Honoring the Top 100 is one of the highpoints of our year. We are delighted to recognize the exceptional performance and innovation of this year’s recipients, particularly in light of the extraordinary challenges facing America’s rural health safety net.”
This is not the only recognition received by the team at Mercy Health – Tiffin. In 2021, the hospital was named to the Fortune/IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list as the top Small Community Hospital in the country. IBM Watson Health identified the top hospitals from a rigorous evaluation of 2,675 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals in the U.S.
Additionally, Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital was ranked number 60 among healthcare providers and insurers in Modern Healthcare’s 2021 Best Places to Work award program – a designation the hospital earned for the third consecutive year. Modern Healthcare partnered with the Best Companies Group on the assessment process, which includes an extensive employee survey.
“Mercy Health is excited to be recognized for our commitment to high-quality, compassionate care to Tiffin and the surrounding area and we are extremely proud of our associates who make recognitions like this possible,” said Dan Barbee, president, Mercy Health – Toledo Rural Market.
