Mercy Cancer Center and University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center entered into a partnership in 2012 that provides Lorain County residents with close-to-home access to some of the most advanced cancer treatments and clinical trials available.

University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio, is part of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University, one of only 40 centers in the country to be designated a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. The partnership gives Lorain County patients convenient access to some of the nation’s leading cancer experts, most advanced treatments and leading-edge technologies through University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center.

In most cases, advanced cancer care, clinical trials and specialist consultations take place close to home at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Mercy Allen Hospital and Mercy Cancer Center. For more complex procedures, patients have seamless access to University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center based at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland. These patients are able to receive chemotherapy, radiation treatments, complementary therapies and other follow-up care in their home communities.

Patients have continued access to the Center for Body, Mind & Spirit at the Mercy Cancer Center. The cancer care professionals at the Center for Body, Mind & Spirit believe that traditional and non-traditional care working together fight cancer more harmoniously and effectively than they do individually.
