Blood Drive at Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital

This is a special holiday drive, in addition to the ones we host quarterly, due to the increased in demand for blood donations.

The two-week period around the Christmas and New Year’s holidays is a very difficult time to maintain an adequate blood supply.  Most people travel, have time off of work, go to holiday events, and basically get out of their normal routine.  Many people do not think about the critical need to donate blood during the holidays.  Because of this need, the Red Cross asked Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital to host this special holiday blood drive. If you missed the early December blood drive, this is a great time to give that important gift by donating blood.  Type O donors are specifically needed to donate Power Reds or whole blood during this time.

Walk-ins are welcome but we recommend scheduling your appointment. To donate you must meet the following criteria:

• Be at least 17 years old
• Weigh at least 110 lbs.
• Generally, feel well and healthy
• Have no fever, sore throat, or flu-like symptoms
• Have no active cold symptoms
• Have not had major surgery recently
