Pink Honor Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness
The Pink Honor Walk is a special event planned to “kick-off” October Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Scheduled for Friday, September 30th from 4:30-7:00pm at Springfield Cancer Center, the event will promote breast health, mammography screening, and help to those living with breast cancer. Walk proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Endowment Fund, Sisters United for Prevention, and the Mercy Health Breast Patient Assistance Fund for Clark & Champaign Counties.
Pink Honor Walk will begin with an opportunity for participants to visit a variety of on-site breast cancer support programs and vendors. Music will be provided by a DJ and special guest speakers will talk about breast cancer services or their breast cancer experience. Celebrating a Breast Cancer Champion is planned.
The walk begins at 5:30 and will encompass an approximately one mile circle around the campus of Springfield Cancer Center and Springfield Regional Medical Center, ending back at Springfield Cancer Center. To complete the evening, an afterparty will be held downtown with Mother Stewart’s Brewery serving as host. This optional part of the walk coincides with Mother Stewart’s October Fest and will offer live music, food trucks and specialty themed beverages. The walk is organized by FinishTiming.
