Mercy Health – Fairfield Hospital Hosts Robotic Surgery Information Night on Thursday, June 22

Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, compassionate, quality care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that Mercy Health – Fairfield Hospital will host a robotic surgery information night from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 22. Fairfield Hospital is the first and only hospital in Butler County to use the newest, state-of-the-art da Vinci® Xi Surgical System, allowing its surgeons to provide a wide range of robotic procedures for many complex conditions, including general surgery, urologic, thoracic, gynecologic and bariatric surgery.

At the free June 22 event, attendees can:

  • See a live demonstration of a da Vinci® Xi Robotic Surgical System
  • Learn about robotic surgery options and benefits
  • Meet experienced surgeons, clinicians and staff, including keynote speakers:
    • Thomas Urban, FACHE, market president and CEO
    • Douglas Berg, MD, general surgeon

“Fairfield Hospital has been providing minimally-invasive, robotic-assisted procedures for several years. We now have two da Vinci® Robotic Surgical Systems that help patients benefit from less pain, lower risk of infection, shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery times and less scarring. Our new Xi model in particular is a great tool for really complex surgical procedures. It helps surgeons navigate and operate with the best possible precision, mobility and vision,” said Tom Urban, Mercy Health North Market President and CEO.

Key advantages of the Xi include small, thin arms with newly designed joints that can rotate and pivot into virtually any position and can also be disconnected and reconnected very quickly to allow surgeons to tend to multiple parts of a patient’s body during the same surgery, making the most complex procedures easier to perform than ever before. The Xi also features longer instruments that allow surgeons to navigate farther than they could previously with a high-definition vision system that provides the most advanced three-dimensional images.
