Mercy Life Flight Network Mobile Stroke Unit
With strokes, minutes matter. So the quicker stroke care is delivered, the better the potential short and long-term outcomes. Mercy Health, in partnership with the Lucas County Commissioners and the City of Toledo, is pleased to offer a new, innovative approach to emergency stroke care: the Mercy Health - Life Flight Network Mobile Stroke Unit.
The first of its kind in Northwest Ohio, it provides a means to better and quicker stroke care when it’s needed most. Designed as a specialized emergency room on wheels, the MSU is staffed 24/7 with a critical care nurse, paramedic and CT technologist. It’s equipped with a portable CT scanner that can immediately determine what type of stroke a patient is experiencing and how to treat it. The MSU includes lab testing equipment and clot-busting drugs that can greatly improve your health. The unit also offers two-way video technology, allowing vascular neurologists to remotely evaluate the patient and begin treatment immediately.
