Rudolph Krafft, MD  Rudolph Krafft, MD
Dr. Krafft assumed the position of Director in March 1999, after serving two years as Associate Director. Dr. Krafft was born nearby Sharon, PA and graduated from the Penn State University's accelerated premedical program. He received his MD degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his Family Practice Residency at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, PA. Dr. Krafft then practiced medicine in the US Navy, also serving on the residency faculty there. After leaving the Navy, he returned to Northeast Ohio, practicing in a staff model HMO and finally in private practice. He has served in many leadership positions including Chief of Family Medicine in a large community hospital and as a Medical Director of a hospital-owned primary care group. Since returning to academic medicine, Dr. Krafft has served as our Undergraduate Director for the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course, didactics program coordinator, and is active in precepting medical students and residents. He has an appointment at NEOUCOM as Associate Professor of Family Medicine. Dr. Krafft is certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
 Dinah Fedyna, MD Dinah Fedyna, MD 
Dr. Fedyna joined St. Elizabeth Family Practice Residency in October 2001 after practicing in Akron since doing her residency at Akron General Medicine Center. A Youngstown native, she was born at St. Elizabeth, graduated from Chaney High School and completed the combined BS/MD program from Youngstown State and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Since 1991 she has served as Director of Predoctoral Education for the Department of Family Medicine. In that role she directs a number of required courses including the Introduction to Clinical Medicine and Family Medicine Clerkship on all NEOUCOM clinical campuses as a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine. She teaches students at all levels and has written grants for innovative education projects. She enjoys taking care of families of all ages particularly children and seniors. She is certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
 Ronald Scott, MD Ronald Scott, MD
Dr. Scott (or "Scotty" as he is known by all) is from the Youngstown area. He is a graduate of St. Mary's University, Baltimore; Louvain University, Belgium; and Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, Illinois. After receiving his MD degree, he performed his Family Practice Residency here at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center (now St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital). Dr. Scott remained on the faculty at St.Elizabeth's and has an active patient practice at our Family Health Center. He serves as Medical Director of both the Villa Maria Community Center and the Neil Kennedy Recovery Center in Youngstown. Dr. Scott has interests in obstetrics and geriatrics and directs the nursing home and home visit programs of our residency. He is actively involved in teaching medical students and has an appointment as Associate Professor of Family Medicine at NEOUCOM. He is certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He participates on several committees in the hospital.
 Charles Thorne, PhD Charles Thorne, PhD
Dr. Thorne is a licensed psychologist, working with our residency since 1986. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at Mississippi State University in 1975. Previous work experiences have included teaching at the university level, public and private psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, nursing homes, and private practice. He has extensively published and has given many presentations on the local, state, and national levels. Research interests include patient/physician relationships, common sexual dysfunction, the relationship between spiritual and physical health, and behavioral medicine. Dr. Thorne is married to Louise and has two adult sons. Interests include playing the trombone for a community concert band, art, and travel. He is certified as a Behavioral Therapist by the American Association of Behavioral Therapists. Dr. Thorne has dual appointments at NEOUCOM as Clinical Associate Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Family Medicine.

 Jessica Handel, DO Jessica Handel, DO
Dr. Handel joined the Family Medicine Residency faculty in July of 2010. She was born and raised in nearby Columbiana, Ohio. A graduate of Crestview Local High School in 1999, Dr. Handel received a B.S. degree in Psychology at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, in 2003. She then attended the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, earning her D.O. degree in 2007. She completed her residency in Family Medicine right here at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, graduating in June of 2010. She is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. Her clinical interests within Family Medicine include obstetrics, women’s health, procedures, and preventive care. Dr. Handel serves as the coordinator for didactics and recruitment within the Family Medicine Residency. She enjoys precepting and teaching residents and medical students at all levels of training.
