Internal Medicine Residency Program

I would like to welcome you to the home page for the Internal Medicine residency at St. Elizabeth. Thank you for your interest in our program.

We began training physicians in 1967 and have a rich history of producing excellent Internists. Our graduates are well prepared for careers in primary care and hospital medicine, as well as for further sub-specialization through fellowship training. Over the past five years, residents from our program have obtained positions in hematology/oncology, endocrinology, pulmonary-critical care, nephrology, infectious disease, and gastroenterology. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our residents, both during their training and later in their careers.

Through a careful selection process, we accept eight new residents each year. We begin interviewing applications through ERAS in October and typically extend interview invitations to 180 applicants. We are very much a multi-ethnic program and enjoy the diverse cultural atmosphere we have created. (Our Annual International Dinner is a yearly highlight!) International graduates are encouraged to apply. However, our hospital only sponsors J-1 visas.
Successful applicants to our program have good interpersonal skills, an outstanding command of English, and a strong fund of medical knowledge demonstrated by solid USMLE/COMLEX scores and an excellent performance in medical school.

Please take a few moments to browse through the pages of our web site. I think you will like what you find.
