Program Overview

Family Medicine has a diverse scope of opportunities for practicing physicians. The Family Medicine Residency program at Mercy Health — St. Joseph Warren Hospital, prepares graduates for any type of practice they may wish to pursue. As a community hospital in a 3-hospital system, we offer our residents learning experiences in rural, private practice, clinic and urban locations.

Our Family Medicine Clinic has been recognized as a level 3 NCQA Patient Centered Nursing Home (PCMH) and allows the residents opportunities to develop their own practice style in a highly supportive atmosphere.

Each resident is on call every fifth or sixth week - depending on the number of residents in the program at the time. We offer a very family friendly environment and residents are treated like practicing physicians - well respected by hospital staff and other attendings.

Hospital didactics are held weekly and include OMM Training as well as simulation labs with our wireless SimMan and other simulation equipment models. Our residents also participate in OU - HCOM ( Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine) CORE education programs with the other Ohio University  Family Medicine Residency programs throughout the state of Ohio.
