The Jewish Hospital - Mercy Health Receives Accreditation for Quality Echocardiography from Intersocietal Accreditation Commission

(CINCINNATI; March 28, 2016) – Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) has accredited The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health for three years for adult transthoracic echocardiography.

Echocardiography is a diagnostic ultrasound procedure performed on the heart and it can allow for early detection of cardiovascular diseases, which are number one cause of death in the United States. On average, one American dies every 39 seconds of disorders of the heart and blood vessels.

“IAC accreditation follows a thorough review of The Jewish Hospital echocardiography lab’s operations and technical components by a panel of experts, which we welcomed,” said Pat Davis-Hagens, Mercy Health Central Market President and CEO. “This accreditation assures our patients that our echocardiography team is providing them with the highest possible level of care.”

Accreditation by the IAC is voluntary and is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that the IAC has carefully critiqued the facility on all facets of operation. The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards.
