Mercy Health Fairfield Hospital is proud to announce recognition as one of the top 22 hospitals in the United States for TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement). As a Three-Star program (the highest rating), the team joins an elite group of hospitals with outcomes bettering 95% of programs nationwide. Mercy Fairfield is the only program in the Tri-State area to achieve this accolade. It is accompanied by only the Cleveland Clinic for comparable outcomes in Ohio. Program ratings are standardized, represent a composite of outcomes, and are determined independently by the Society for Thoracic Surgery (STS). Program ratings may be found online at https://tvtpublicreporting.sts.org/tvt-registry.

Mercy Health Fairfield Hospital has been performing TAVR procedures for over a decade, serving the Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky areas. TAVR is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure to replace failing valves in the heart. The procedural time is generally less than 30 minutes, complication rates are exceedingly low, and subsequent day discharge is common. The TAVR team is a robust collection of highly skilled and trained interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, echocardiographers, anesthesiologists, nurses, and technologists.

"We are extremely proud of the distinction and program we have built at Mercy Fairfield," said Daniel Eckert, MD, the director of the Transcatheter Valve Program. "This accomplishment reflects years of hard work, multidisciplinary cooperation, and an unyielding commitment to providing our patients the best operators and technology."
