The Lima City Schools and Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center have announced a partnership that will allow Lima Senior High School to expand its Patent Care Technology program and bring a new state-of-the-art, interactive learning tool to the school.

The three-year investment from Mercy Health allows Lima Senior to add a classroom/lab for its growing Patent Care program. The room has been named the Mercy Health Patient Care Lab. The additional space is allowing Patient Care to enroll 46 juniors in the program this year, double of what space previously allowed. Patient Care is a two-year program starting junior year. The program has had a wait list of students wanting to get in for several years.

Included in Mercy Health’s investment is additional curriculum and an Anatomage Table – a life-sized virtual dissection tool revolutionizing how students learn human and animal anatomy. It brings cadaver-level accuracy into the classroom with no chemicals, mess or risk.  The cutting-edge 3D anatomy platform allows students to explore real human cadavers and over 1,000 anatomical structures with a fingertip – rotating, slicing and dissecting in real time.

Lima City Schools will use the Anatomage Table to prepare students for high-demand careers in healthcare, veterinary science, and sports medicine by exposing them early to anatomical data and diagnostic imaging.  The table will be used by Patient Care students, as well as health, biology, anatomy and Ag classes. It will also be available for middle school teachers to bring students to the high school.
