Mercy Health proudly donated more than 1,000 school supplies and bookbags to Lorain County students in most need ahead of the 2023-2024 school year. The items were collected as part of Mercy Health’s sixth annual school supply drive honoring Mercy Health’s foundresses, the Sisters of the Humility of Mary.

“We know that the Sisters of the Humility of Mary have a passion for ensuring children have no barriers in life, especially to health and education, which is why we hold this school supply drive in their honor. Every year, our employees come together and generously donate supplies and backpacks to ensure that area students have all they need to be successful in school,” said Catherine Woskobnick, Director of Community Health for Mercy Health – Lorain. “Our Mission calls us to extend the compassionate ministry of Jesus, and this drive is just one example of our team living that mission in their daily life. We are humbled by the generosity of our employees and proud to be able to give back to our community, carrying on our 130-year legacy of service to Lorain.”

Donations were delivered to the following organizations:

Clearview Local Schools
Elyria City School District
Oberlin City Schools
Pathways Enrichment Center – Book bags and supplies were also given to local students at the Mercy Health Back to School Community Wellness Fair that was held on Saturday, August 12.
