For the second year in a row, Mercy Health – Allen Hospital President Carrie Jankowski  was named to Becker's Hospital Review 2025 edition of its "Rural hospital and health system president and CEOs to know" list.

Rural hospitals and health systems are lifelines for communities that might otherwise go without essential healthcare services. The CEOs highlighted on this list are responsible for expanding service lines, recruiting top-tier caregivers and enhancing care environments through renovations and new construction. These dedicated leaders juggle a wide range of tasks and are deeply invested in the wellbeing of their communities. Their vision and commitment are at the heart of their hospitals' success and sustainability.

“Carrie continues to exemplify what it means to be a committed, community-focused leader,” said John Luellen, MD, President of Mercy Health – Lorain and Youngstown. “Her passion for Lorain County and dedication to Mercy Health – Allen Hospital are evident in the hospital’s growth and the strong, collaborative culture she’s fostered. Being named to this list for a second year is a well-deserved honor and a reflection of the meaningful impact she makes every day.”

Jankowski has served Mercy Health for nearly 30 years, starting in 1997 as a radiology technician. She rose through the ranks, eventually becoming vice president of ancillary and support before being appointed to her current role as president of Allen Hospital in 2021. Her leadership has driven significant improvement in Allen Hospital’s quality, culture and financial performance, including improving the hospital's revenues by 21.4%. Jankowski is responsible for strategic leadership and growth of the hospital, executing the organization’s strategic plan and developing growth opportunities to expand the hospital’s presence within the Oberlin community.

“I’m truly honored to be recognized once again among leaders who are advancing care in rural communities,” said Jankowski. “This acknowledgment reflects the incredible work of our entire team at Allen Hospital, whose commitment to compassionate, high-quality care never wavers. I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished together and excited to keep building on that foundation to serve our patients and community.”
