Three associates with Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital have been awarded Christina Lynn Rushing Memorial Scholarships from Mercy Health Foundation Lourdes.

The Rushing Scholarship is awarded annually to employees of Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital for the purpose of continuing their education in the health field. A scholarship committee selects winners from a field of applicants. Applicants must have at least one year of employment with Mercy Health. The fund was established in memory of Rushing by her parents William and Cynthia. Cynthia retired from Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital and is a member of the foundation’s scholarship committee that selects recipients.

This year’s recipients are Amy Manley, Kailey Meyer and Kendra McCombs. Manley is a nurse navigator at Lourdes pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing; Meyer is a licensed practical nurse (LPN) pursuing her certification as a registered nurse; and McCombs is currently a patient access specialist at Lourdes who is in the process of obtaining her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

This is the second year for the scholarship. In its inaugural year, the scholarship was awarded to a single individual. “Thanks to the matching donation of two of our board members, the Foundation is blessed to offer three scholarships this year,” said Foundation President Jessica Toren. “It is wonderful to be able to help our employees further their education and reach their goals.”
