Mercy Health is expanding its Community Paramedicine Program into Springfield and its surrounding communities, furthering its commitment to bridge healthcare gaps for at-risk patients. As part of this expansion, Samantha Danley joined the Mercy Health team on May 5th as the program’s newest community paramedic.

“Expanding into Clark County means more individuals will receive the essential support they need to stay healthy and independent at home,” said Brian Miller, Community Relations Director at Mercy Health. “With the addition of a new paramedic, we can further our commitment to reducing unnecessary emergency room visits and ensuring our patients receive timely, personalized care.”

The Community Paramedicine Program has helped hundreds of Champaign County patients since its launch in 2021 by providing in-home care and support to individuals following hospital discharge. This has included helping patients navigate new medications, treatment plans, and other challenges that may arise post-care. By expanding into Clark County, Mercy Health aims to reach more residents who need critical assistance but may struggle to access traditional healthcare services.

Working alongside first responders and local agencies, the program helps patients with medical, emotional, mental, and social needs. Through personalized follow-up care, the Community Paramedicine team connects individuals with necessary services, including medication management, meal support, mobility assistance, and more.

Local emergency responders and community advocates have praised the program for its effectiveness in reducing non-emergency 911 calls and providing compassionate, proactive healthcare solutions. With the expansion into Clark County, Mercy Health continues its dedication to improving healthcare accessibility and quality across the region.
