Mercy Health will be investing in new equipment to help decrease patient wait times and improve communication between patients and staff thanks to $175,879 in grant funds from the Mercy Health Foundation Clark and Champaign Counties.
The first grant will continue to support the expansion of oncology services in the Mercy Health – Springfield market by funding the purchase of new lab equipment for the Mercy Health – Springfield Cancer Center. The addition of this new equipment is expected to help reduce patient wait times for services.
Other grants will lead to improvements at the market’s hospitals. The environmental services department will receive support to update its UV Disinfection Device that helps clean key areas at Mercy Health – Springfield Regional Medical Center (SRMC). Meanwhile, the funds will also pay for new communication boards throughout SRMC and Mercy Health – Urbana Hospital. Adding these to patient rooms is expected to help improve communication between staff, patients, and families.
This year’s grant money will also support the 3rd Annual EMS Symposium the health system is hosting this month in Springfield. The free, full-day event will bring together EMTs, AEMTs, paramedics and other frontline emergency care professionals from across the region for hands-on skills training, continuing education hours, expert-led lectures, networking opportunities and vendor exhibits featuring the latest in emergency response technology. By empowering those who respond first, Mercy Health is strengthening the broader healthcare system and helping ensure high-quality care begins the moment help arrives.
“Each year, these grants allow us to respond directly to the needs of our patients, staff, and community,” said Kristy Kohl McCready, President of Mercy Health Foundation Clark & Champaign Counties. “We’re so grateful for the generosity of our donors, who are helping us make meaningful changes that will benefit people across the region for years to come.”
Mercy Health Foundation Clark & Champaign Counties partners with donors to make lives better and communities stronger, raising charitable funds for the not-for-profit programs and facilities of Community Mercy Health Partners, including hospitals and community outreach programs.
