Mercy Health REACH Services is celebrating 30 years of helping individuals in Clark and Champaign Counties who are struggling with addiction to alcohol, drugs, and tobacco – working with them to help reclaim their lives.

REACH stands for Recovery, Education, Advocacy, Care, and Hope. Established in 1995, the program began by simply providing educational presentations. Over the years, the program has added a focus on prevention, growing to offer a clinical treatment program.

“Our first addiction treatment services were an outpatient addiction treatment program that we grew to a more intensive outpatient program,” explains Sheri Haines, manager of Mercy Health REACH. “As time went on, we saw the need for and added tobacco smoking cessation programs, medication assisted treatment, detox placement, and case management services for clients.”

Together, a team of eleven professionals provides non-judgmental, compassionate care to youth and adults. Current services include:

  • Drug and alcohol treatment – Outpatient care includes assessments, individual counseling, and group therapy as well as an intensive outpatient program for those needing support. Treatment includes 30- to 120-day outpatient programs.
  • Detoxification – Assessing patients struggling with opiate or alcohol withdrawal to determine if they need rapid placement to a medical center for detoxification.
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment – Offering medication management, including the monthly Vivitrol injection, to assist with maintaining sobriety.
  • Community outreach – Free community presentations to local agencies and organizations to educate individuals on how to avoid alcohol, drugs, and tobacco use.
  • Tobacco treatment – Individual and group classes are available through a six-week program, including programs for pregnant mothers.
  • Support Services/Case Management – Providing general help for patients trying to return to a sober society. This may include transportation tokens to REACH services, residential placement assistance, and other forms of support.

The Mercy Health REACH team develops individualized treatment plans and clinical guidance from Mercy Health’s qualified, licensed professionals for those struggling with addiction.

“Following the addiction journey can be incredibly rewarding for our team,” said Sheri. “It can also be challenging and difficult. What makes our group so special is our commitment to our values and our purpose to offer support to help our patients return to a sober society.”

Mercy Health – REACH is only available in Clark and Champaign counties but is also proud to offer treatment to individuals struggling with addiction in our Ohio and Kentucky regions. For more information about REACH services, please call 937-390-5338 (Springfield) or 937-653-3001 (Urbana).
