For the fifth year in a row, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have once again recognized Mercy Health — Urbana Hospital with the prestigious 5-star rating in this year’s Overall Hospital Quality Star. This year, only 290 hospitals nationwide earned the highest rating—91 fewer than in 2024—placing Mercy Health — Urbana Hospital among the nation’s top-performing hospitals.
“Earning five stars for five consecutive years is more than just a recognition. It’s proof of consistency, compassion, and clinical excellence our patients can count on every day,” said Jamie Houseman, President of Mercy Health — Urbana Hospital. “When the bar is set high, it takes an extraordinary team to meet and exceed it year after year. I am deeply proud of our staff, providers, and volunteers and grateful to our community for the trust they place in us to care for them and their loved ones.”

The CMS Overall Hospital Quality Star ratings serve as a trusted resource for patients evaluating their care options. Ratings are based on measures of safety, quality, and patient experience, providing a comprehensive view of hospital performance. Out of more than 4,600 hospitals evaluated nationwide, only 290 achieved the top recognition.

According to CMS, the Star Ratings were designed to drive systematic improvements in care and safety as hospitals strive to achieve and maintain high ratings. To view the CMS rankings, visit https://www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare/search.html.
