U.S. News & World Report Names Two Mercy Health - Youngstown Hospitals Among Best in Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO (August 9, 2017) – Only 26 Ohio hospitals were recognized as Best Regional Hospitals in the 2017-18 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings, and two Mercy Health - Youngstown hospitals were among them.

St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital ranked 18th in Ohio, with St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in the 22nd position. The U.S. News rankings are among the most well-known and meaningful measures of hospitals’ innovation, quality and care delivery, providing consumers with critical insight as they make important healthcare decisions. The Ohio rankings, which were released Tuesday, did not include any other Mahoning Valley hospital.

Donald Kline, president and chief executive officer of Mercy Health - Youngstown, said the honor is a reflection of the healthcare leader’s commitment to positively impacting the health status of the Mahoning Valley.

“For more than 100 years, Mercy Health - Youngstown has been deeply committed to our Mission to improve the health of our communities,” Kline said. “Honors like the U.S. News & World Report rankings validate the work we’re doing to deliver on that Mission. We’re grateful for the recognition, and it will serve as continued inspiration for our efforts to be the place where patients want to come for care, physicians want to practice and employees want to work in the Mahoning Valley.”

As part of the Best Hospitals report, all three Mercy Health - Youngstown hospitals earned “High Performing” status in at least two adult specialties, procedures or conditions. High-performing hospitals are in the top 10 percent of analyzed centers in one or more of 12 specialties or nine procedures and conditions.
