Mercy Health - Youngstown Welcomes New Chief Financial Officer

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO (May 30, 2017) – Mercy Health - Youngstown, the region’s leading healthcare provider, has selected a financial leader with a career-long focus on healthcare as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

Anthony Seminaro joined the organization this month. As CFO, he will serve as the key steward of Mercy Health - Youngstown's financial and physical assets. He will also be responsible for construction, real estate and reimbursement in the Mahoning Valley.

A veteran of the healthcare industry, Seminaro most recently served as the CFO for Hospital Corporation of America’s Fawcett Memorial and Engelwood Community hospitals in Port Charlotte, Florida. There, he implemented the strategies that helped improve and accelerate the hospitals’ financial performance. He also led the proposal and approval of millions of dollars in capital investments and expansions that, ultimately, led to better access to care and a better patient experience for the communities the hospitals served.

Donald Kline, president and chief executive officer of Mercy Health - Youngstown, said Seminaro’s proven track record is well-aligned with the current needs of the organization.

“We’re in the midst of a transformative healthcare climate, and it demands the most proactive, innovative financial leadership,” Kline said. “Anthony brings proven experience driving financial performance and delivering against key financial metrics. In this role, he will be integral to the sustainability of our organization to help ensure we continue to deliver on our Mission here in the Mahoning Valley.”

A member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Institute of Management Accountants, Seminaro is currently completing his Master of Business Administration at Ohio University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is a graduate of Leadership Mahoning Valley.

Seminaro expressed his excitement about returning to his home state.

“I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to return to help advance the mission of Mercy Health in the Mahoning Valley,” Seminaro said. “Through sustained fiscal responsibility and stewardship, we can continue to invest in this region to enhance access and throughput for our patients. I’m looking forward to helping continue to drive growth and innovation by contributing to a solid operational platform.”

Seminaro succeeds Matthew Love, Mercy Health - Youngstown's CFO since 2012, who has been selected to take on a broader financial leadership role for parent organization Mercy Health. Love will become Mercy Health’s regions CFO, overseeing financial operations for all seven Ohio and Kentucky regions in which Mercy Health delivers care.
